Las Vegas / 4 March 2013 Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of Russian Technologies State Corporation and a leading global designer and manufacturer of helicopters, will showcase the Ka-62, Mi-171A2and Ka-32A11BC at Heli Expo 2013, taking place in Las Vegas from 5-7 March.

The second day of the exhibition, 6 March, will see the traditional Russian Hour organised and run by Russian participants in the Las Vegas helicopter forum. At this year’s Russian Hour, Russian Helicopters will present the medium multi-role Ka-62, a transport and passenger helicopter being developed using the latest aviation technologies and composite materials in the construction of the fuselage and rotor system.

The Ka-62 meets the highest standards of safety, fuel efficiency and economy of operation. The helicopter’s first flight is scheduled for this year, with certification expected in 2014. The Ka-62 has attracted great interest from potential corporate customers, such as Brazilian company Atlas Taxi Aereo, which has already placed an order for seven of the helicopters.

Another new model on show will be the multi-role Mi-171A2, the latest model in the renowned Mi-8/17 series. The Mi-171A2 combines the recognised qualities and reliability of the Mi-8/17 series – the world’s most popular helicopter, with more than 12,000 manufactured – with innovative new helicopter technologies that substantially expand its range of potential applications.

The Mi-171A2 was developed based on feedback from Mi-8/17 operators and the extensive operating experience of these helicopters around the world – in various climates, at high altitude and at sea.The goal was to make operation of the helicopter even more economical and commercially profitable to preserve Russia’s dominance in the medium helicopter segment.

Also on display will be the Ka-32A11BC, a multi-role coaxial helicopter that can be used for fire-fighting operations, search-and-rescue missions, high-altitude installation work and goods transportation. Canadian company VIH Aviation Group currently operates a fleet of three Ka-32A11BCs.

Heli Expo sets the agenda for the year in the sector, and experts expect it to be a major event, bringing together companies from around the world. More than 20,000 sector specialists are expected to attend, and over 650 exhibition stands.
The Russian Helicopters presentation will get underway at 1pm in hall 110 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
