March 31, 2013, Hyderabad, India – Global Oncology Summit, 2013 is being held in Hyderabad, India on 28th to 30thMarch, 2013.

The conference inaugurated on 29th March, 2013 by Former President of India Dr. A.P. J Abdul Kalam.

On the speaking on the occasion he said, “Cytological screening is the most effective method for detecting and treating precancerous lesions. Pap smears and treatment of precancerous lesions can lead to 90% reduction of incidence of invasive cervical cancer”.
There are about 1,200 qualified oncologists for a population of 1.2 billion people. As a result, 60% of patients with Cancer are actually being treated by non-oncologists-General Practioners or other specialists.” he added.
Professor D.D. Patel, Former Director and Professor of Surgical Oncology, Gujarat Cancer Research Institute, said, “ the incidence of cancer in rural and semi-rural areas was not known and proposed that the 29 regional Cancer Centers registries to Know the incidence.

“There are 18 lakh Cancer patients in India at any given point of time. This translates to 7.2 lakh cancer Patients requiring psycho-oncological care, which is not available at present in all the centre’s in India, the Former President Contemplate.

Chairman of Basvatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute (BIACH & RI) N.Balakrishna said, “the hospital has been providing world-class treatment at affordable costs to cancer patients”.

BIACH & RI was the first Cancer Hospital in India to acquire in 2004 a large Medical transport vehicle fitted with X-ray, Ultrasound and Mammography machines as well as a small lab to provide on the spot investigation results. The hospital hasconducted 767 cancer camps and screened over 1, 50,000 persons so far and 53,176 investigations through its to detect Cancer.

Eminent U.S. Oncologist Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu, Dr. Subramayeshwara Rao, Medical Director, Dr. Senthil Rajappa, Head of Medical Oncology, BIACH & RI also spoke.
