Russian Helicopters to present current line-up of civilian and military helicopters at Heli Russia 2013

Moscow / 13th May 2013 Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of State Corporation Rostec and a leading global designer and manufacturer of helicopters, will bring its current model range of civilian and military helicopters and give an insight into upcoming developments and its international projects at Heli Russia 2013, which takes place on 16-18 May 2013 at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre in Moscow. Russian Helicopters can be found in pavilion 1 at stand 1E in hall 4.

HeliRussia opens the exhibition season in Russia. It is followed by the International Maritime Defence Show in St. Petersburg (June 3-7), where Russian Helicopters will present its naval models, while later in the summer the MAKS International Aviation and Space Salon will be held in Zhukovsky near Moscow (August 27-September 1), where the company will showcase the entire line-up of Russian-made helicopters.

At HeliRussia Russian Helicopters will present a number of advanced projects for the commercial market, including the new Ka-226T, Ansat, Mi-171A2, Ka-62 and Mi-38. The Ka-52 Alligator and Mi-28NE Night Hunter combat helicopters will also be presented and the Mi-35M military transport helicopter will be on static display. The first medium civil AW139 helicopter assembled by the joint Russian-Italian venture HeliVert may also be presented to the Russian market at the exhibition.

Last year’s Heli Russia witnessed the debut of the multi-role Ka-62, and the Russian Helicopters stand will include an update on this program’s progress this year. This helicopter is equipped with twin Turbomeca Ardiden 3G engines. The gearboxes for the main rotor and transmission are provided by Austria’s Zoerkler, a specialist in precision drive and transmission systems. The Ka-62 is an advanced helicopter that combines high standards of safety with low environmental impact and excellent fuel economy. The first company to order the new Ka-62 was Atlas Taxi Aereo in Brazil, which plans to use this helicopter to provide services to national oil company Petrobras.

The latest model in the Mi-8/17 series, the multi-role Mi-171A2 is set to become one of the most interesting products in the medium helicopters niche. It combines the best qualities of its renowned predecessors with cutting-edge technologies and equipment to produce improved performance for operators as well as new market opportunities.

Russian combat helicopters will be represented by the multirole Mi-35M military transport – an overhauled version of the legendary Mi-24, which recently marked 40 years of serial production. Today the Mi-35M is a modern combat helicopter that serves the Russian Air Forces and also is used by the armed forces of Venezuela, Brazil and Azerbaijan. The modernized Mi-35M was developed based on experience operating Mi-24 in various climatic conditions. It is equipped with a modern weapons system and avionics suite, and can fly around the clock and in difficult weather conditions. It is designed to destroy armoured targets, provide air support for ground operations, deliver troops for ground assault missions and evacuate wounded personnel, and can also transport cargo in cabin or via external sling.

One of most important themes at Heli Russia is expected to be the use of helicopters to service medical needs. Russian Helicopters will share its insight into civil medical aviation at the Second Interdepartmental Conference on Russian Air Ambulances and Medical Evacuation on May 16-17 at HeliRussia. The event is held under the auspices of Russian Ministry of Health and Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Russian Helicopters also produces light utility helicopters which can be used for medical purposes, the Ansat and Ka-226T. Each is well suited for use as medevac helicopters which can be rapidly dispatched to the scene of an accident and deliver injured people to medical facilities. The Ansat has the most spacious passenger/cargo cabin in its class and the Ka-226T, thanks to its coaxial rotor system, is capable of executing precise manoeuvres in dense urban environments and land on small or unequipped landing sites.

Heli Russia is organized by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. It is a forum for demonstrating both civil and military helicopters, and also an effective platform for dialogue among participants of the world helicopter market.
