Kuala Lumpur, 5 February 2013 – Children from Yayasan Chow Kit’s (YCK) Chow Kit Children’s Activity Centre and team members of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) show-off their ‘gangnam’ poses during a recent get-together at the activity centre.
Besides spending some quality time with the children, the team, led by Assistant Human Resource Manager, Shereen Leong, came bearing gifts of groceries, blankets and cookies worth more than RM1,000, clothes, toys, books, magazines and cash contributions from their fellow team members and, two 5-kg cakes courtesy of the Centre’s Culinary team.
A firm believer that sharing is caring, giving is joy, the team themselves had an enjoyable afternoon well spent doing creative colouring and fun dancing with the children before ending the visit with goody bags giveaways.
Mohd NoorJamil Bin Mohd Ishak, Youth Programme Coordinator of YCK said, “his appreciation to the Centre for organising the visit and looked forward to the next one in the future”.
The Chow Kit Children’s Activity Centre is a 24-hour crisis and drop-in centre in the bustling Chow Kit neighbourhood. The activity centre provides meals, activities, therapy, case management and educational programmes for at-risk children, mostly between five and 18 years old. While the children are mainly from the Chow Kit community, many of the adolescents come from other parts of the country and beyond.
