TE'S SIDE ENTRY BUSHING RECEIVES NSN FOR EASIER ORDERING BY MILITARY & GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

HARRISBURG, Paris, April 16, 2013  TE Connectivity announces its side entry bushing (SEB), for military, commercial aerospace and commercial marine environments, has been issued a National Stocking Number (NSN) from the Defense Logistics Agency(DLA). NSN's are used by U.S. military services, Department of Defense(DoD), disposition services, federal agencies (such as GSA, FAA, DHS, etc.), North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO), and many various governments around the world. When added to a product label, the NSN indicates a review and approval for use within the military's logistics supply chain.

"Finding an NSN sponsor for such a unique and beneficial product was quite easy because this industry needs fast and efficient harness repairs. Many customers are looking for something simple, effective and time saving, which is exactly what our SEB bushings offer," said John Kuster, senior product manager, TE Connectivity, Global Aerospace, Defense & Marine. "Even OEMs appreciate their easy installation and virtually limitless shelf life."

TE's side entry bushing was designed for high-temperature applications where tape or fixed grommets are used. One strip of the pre-coiled, reusable SEB can replace up to 6 feetand 40 wrapsof silicone tape traditionally used in strain relief of wire and cables.

The flexible, compressible bushings are thermally formed and cross-linked so they naturally conform and gather circular bundles to provide excellent strain relief on saddle clamp style backshell adapters. In addition, the SEB does not contain an adhesive layer, which makes the product easily removable without the messy residue adhesives leave behind. It can be re-used often after repairs have been made.

Currently available in six standard sizes, the bushings can be trimmed to fit to any size clamp/wire combinations. Side entry bushings are thermally formed from a silicon elastomer with a temperature rating to 180 degrees Celsius continuous use and flame-retardant. They maintain outstanding low-temperature flexibility and resist hydraulic fluids, fuel and lubricating oils. The bushings conform to MIL Standard AMS-DTL-23053/10, MIL-PRF-46846 Type II Class 1 and TE specification RT-1140for silicone elastomeric materials.
