2015 – To advance aeronautical education and aid
students from less fortunate backgrounds
Western India Institute of Aeronautics which is a part of Ahmedabad
Aviation & Aeronautics Ltd. and Airbus Helicopters Foundation join hands to
encourage meritorious youngsters in pursuing careers in the aviation industry.
Through this project five meritorious students will be supported in order to
pursue aircraft maintenance courses in the Western India Institute of
Aeronautics.
The
Aircraft Maintenance course in the Western India Institute od Aeronautics is a
Three year program compromising six semesters including one semester of
on-the-job training. On completion of the program students will receive a
Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree and graduate as an Aircraft Maintenance
Enginer (AME).
India
is one of the fastest developing countries in the world with about 542 milion
passengers travelling by the air each year and a fleet of about 1030 aircraft
estimated to be flying by 2020 there is urgent need to build up the pool of technical
expertise to meet the increasing demand within the aerospace sector in the
country.
