India- Eastern Railway observed International Women’s Day at
its Headquarters Offices as well as all the four divisions viz. Howrah,
Sealdah, Asansol & Malda in a befitting manner. On this occasion of
International Women’s Day, Eastern Railway has taken a series of steps towards
empowerment of lady employees as well as making Railways a safer place for
women.
At the International Women’s Day today (8.3.2019) Matribhoomi Locals (ladies
special) at Sealdah were manned by lady TTE, lady RPF and lady Guard, Booking
& PRS Offices at Howrah, Barddhaman, Bandel, Bolpur, Sealdah, Ranaghat,
Naihati, Duttapukur, Ballygunge, Asansol, Durgapur, Raniganj, Andal, Chittaranjan,
Malda and Jamalpur stations were manned by lady staff for one shift. Lady TTE
squad with lady RPF worked in morning & evening shifts at Sealdah, Asansol,
Malda Town stations. Besides, two mail/express trains of Howrah Division were
entirely manned by lady TTEs and Yard shunting in coaching area of Malda Town
station was done by lady employees. In addition, sanitary napkins were made
available at Sealdah, Kolkata, Ballygunge stations.
Moreover, Bio lab turnaround maintenance of Gour Express at Malda Town, East
& West Cabins at Bhagalpur & Sahibganj stations were managed by female employees.
Lady employees working in different stations, units in all the Divisions and
Workshops of Eastern Railway were felicitated for their outstanding
performances on this day. At Howrah and Sealdah stations female passengers were
warmly greeted by the Divisional Railway Managers.
